They are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Legal Administrative Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside a collaborative team of Partners, Associates, Counsel, Patent and Trademark Agents, Paralegals, and experienced Legal Administrative Assistants in one of Canadas leading intellectual property law firms. They are committed to supporting both your personal and professional development through meaningful work, mentorship, and ongoing learning opportunities.

 

The Legal Administrative Assistant will be assisting a team of professionals, paralegals and other legal administrative assistants with a variety of functions including docketing deadlines, document production and assisting with stages of patent and trademark prosecution. This includes:

  • Prepare and draft documents and correspondence.
  • Managing deadlines, billing and general administrative duties.

  • Assisting with the management of patent and trademark portfolios.
  • Retrieving patent and trademark records and information from official databases.
  • Filing patent and trademark applications.
  • Assisting with preparation of amendments and responses to Office Actions and other official filings.
  • Ability to perform other related duties as required.

The successful candidate will be required to work full-time in the office for a minimum of three months and will have the flexibility to work from home three (3) days a week as part of the firm’s hybrid work model.

 

Qualifications for this position include the following:

  • Graduate of an accredited legal administrative assistant program or relevant experience
  • 1-2 years of experience in a law firm environment would be an asset.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong keyboarding skills with demonstrated accuracy.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement, professionalism and to maintain confidentiality
  • Advanced computer skills – Word, Excel, Outlook and other computer applications.
Salary: $48,000 to $52,000 per annum dependent on experience
