Legal Administrative Assistant - Litigation

Our law firm client is seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant to join their team. The LAA position is rewarding and challenging, and is well-suited to someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment with varied responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant (preferably in a litigation practice);
  • Legal Administrative Assistant certification from an accredited institution;
  • Experience handling multiple deadlines and working under pressure;
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, along with a strong attention to detail;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and working with legal databases (and preferably a familiarity with BC Online, Court Services Online, and my LTSA).

Duties of the Legal Administrative Assistant include:

  • Opening files and ensuring files (mainly electronic) are kept organized and up-to-date;
  • Assembling and preparing materials for proceedings before courts and tribunals, as well as client meetings;
  • Coordinating lawyers’ scheduling and appointments;
  • Liaising with clients and others on the phone and in-person;
  • Preparing and sending correspondence and legal documents;
  • Assisting with scheduling examinations, trials and preparing associated documents;
  • Assisting with preparing invoices; and
  • Conducting light reception from time to time.
