Supervisor, Legal Support Services

Our client is a leading international business law and litigation firm. They have an exciting new opportunity based in their Vancouver office, supporting the BC Region. Working closely with HR, this successful candidate will be an integral part of the team, leading the legal support services in providing the highest level of administrative support to their professional staff.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Supervising a team of Legal Assistants and Document Specialists, ensuring effective, timely and cost-efficient coordination for completion of client and administrative tasks
  • Determining and recommending optimal staffing requirements and utilization
  • Assessing and developing staff skill levels to ensure alignment with current business needs, including ongoing mentorship, training and providing feedback.
  • Approving scheduled leave of absences, in collaboration with the HR department, while ensuring appropriate staffing levels are met
  • Working in partnership with the HR team, assisting with the recruitment of legal support staff as required
  • Fostering a high performance, positive, client focused, and collaborative team culture
  • Other responsibilities as required to accommodate business needs

Skill and Qualifications

  • Experience supervising teams, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Legal Assistant
  • Formal education in Human Resources would be an asset
  • Proficiency with computer software programs including MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Experience working with Elite 3E and iManage would be considered an asset
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced team environment
  • Exceptional communication skills and a superb client service focus
  • Adept at learning new technology and working with new systems
  • Able to prioritize work assignments, meet deadlines, and respond to changing priorities
