Commercial Litigation Paralegal

Our client is one of the premier commercial litigation law firms in Vancouver. They are currently looking to hire a Paralegal to join their busy Commercial Litigation team.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Evidence and document management, including organizing and reviewing documents, preparing lists of documents for production in court proceedings, eDiscovery and electronic document management, organizing and reviewing discovery and hearing transcripts;
  • Assisting in preparations for examinations for discovery, court hearings, mediations and trials, including assembling affidavits and court records;
  • Reviewing and analyzing evidence, including for relevance, privilege, and to identify key documents, and drafting memoranda;
  • Performing factual research;
  • Communicating with clients, opposing counsel and vendors, including by email, telephone and letter;
  • Managing and working closely with document processing vendors; and
  • Drafting pleadings and affidavits.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a law firm, preferably in the litigation area;
  • Completion of a recognized Paralegal Diploma program;
  • Knowledge of BC litigation processes and court procedures;
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Adobe;
  • Experience using Ipro Eclipse, Summation as well as familiarity with CaseMap;
  • Experience with E-Discovery;
  • Experience with BC Online and LTSA (e-filing, searches);
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team;
  • Adaptable and flexible to handle changing priorities;
  • Keenly interested in learning;
  • Dedicated to providing service beyond expectations;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proven problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple internal clients and be responsive to the needs of each; and
  • Flexible to work overtime as needed.
